background

As part of the EPR2 program, EDF aims to renew its design and construction practices by relying on a Digital Worksite. The challenge is considerable: to prepare for the commissioning of new nuclear reactors, more efficient and more secure, meeting France's energy and environmental requirements.

To achieve this, it is not enough to introduce a few digital tools: it is a question of thoroughly rethinking processes and working methods, from the design phase to implementation, including project management. This systemic approach involves close coordination between different departments and professions (engineering, change management, innovation), as well as the clear definition of needs and expectations for each business unit concerned. The challenge is to define transformation trajectories, formalize realistic roadmaps and manage induced changes, all in a highly regulated universe subject to nuclear safety constraints. The transversal project management (DSPTN) must therefore orchestrate multiple stakeholders and ensure strategic alignment for digital modernization to translate into real industrial value.

Customer needs

EDF DSPTN was looking for support to structure the implementation of the Chantier Numérique, by guaranteeing the coherence of the initiatives and the relevance of the planned transformations. This support included in particular the facilitation of reflection sessions, the definition of strategic guidelines and the formalization of a digital base meeting the objectives of quality, safety and efficiency. The integration of internal expertise, the management of multidisciplinary teams and the coordination of the various batches were crucial for the success of this vast program.

Specificity of the mission

The support provided is based on an approach that is both technical and organizational, combining engineering, change management and project governance. The aim is to clarify the expectations for each affected lot, then to formalize roadmaps that integrate the digital dimension. The mission requires constant coordination between business departments, project pilots and experts, in order to guarantee the coherence of the work and the proper appropriation of the proposed solutions. This systemic approach meets the challenges of a highly strategic sector for the new French nuclear industry.
