RAILWAY, A MAJOR PLAYER IN GREEN TRANSPORTATION
Responding to the global crises of COVID-19 and global warming, rail transport has become a symbol of ecological transition. For example, France has invested nearly €5 billion in the rail industry as part of its recovery plan.
The railway industry is at a turning point in its history. Some systems are becoming obsolete, as Europe is very much in favour of interoperability of systems that the authorities are increasingly demanding in terms of safety. At the same time, rail transport is becoming one of the main transportation solutions to environmental and economic problems.
Many projects are emerging all over the world.
The “new” transport is on the way and our role is becoming even more decisive for:
- Improving the day-to-day mobility of users: reliability of the transport network, reduced delays.
- Facilitate the mobility of users and the cohesion of the regional infrastructure: new rail lines, extensions of metro lines, expansion of motorways.
- Contribute to the latest technological developments in the sector for ever cleaner transportation and increased security: hydrogen TER, electric buses.
We act vertically within the railway industry: Clients, Contractors, Works management assistants and EPCM Companies.
Our expertise is deployed over the entire project cycle, from the pre-engineering phase to the commissioning as well as on all types of specific infrastructures: tracks, stations, engineering works, underground structures.
For each of its projects, Vulcain works according to biM collaborative processes that allow us to better control the different interfaces and project risks as well as to be at the forefront of the digital transition.
We are present on the whole systems engineering V-cycle of the rolling stock, from the design phases through to the maintenance.
We collaborate with all railway rolling stock stakeholders (operators, manufacturers and equipment suppliers) both on the modernization/maintenance of the operated equipment and on the development of new innovative products (Train of the Future and Hydrogen Train).
For more than 10 years, VULCAIN has developed the SIMULATIO© software, which allows to simulate in closed loop the electrical designs of the different subsystems of a rolling stock. Thanks to the co-simulations performed with SIMULATIO©, our clients have seen, on average, a 60% decrease of issues reported during static and dynamic tests.
