MethyCentre, supported by Storengy in partnership with CEA and CNRS, is the first methanation demonstrator in France. This innovative project aims to combine green hydrogen and CO₂ in order to generate synthetic methane injected into the gas network. It thus helps to the reduction of the carbon footprint and to the deployment of power-to-gas solutions, which are essential for the valorization and storage of renewable energies.

The objective is to prove the industrial feasibility of a process that was previously experimental, by validating its performance, efficiency and regulatory compliance. Vulcain Engineering intervenes at each stage to design, integrate and supervise methanation equipment, while taking into account research and innovation challenges. In a context where energy transition is a major challenge, MethyCentre illustrates the ability to transform research into concrete applications. The lessons learned from this demonstrator will guide potential large-scale deployment, strengthening France's position as a key player in the decarbonization of the gas sector.
