As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help expand our presence across the UK engineering market and drive new opportunities for our specialist technical services.

The Position: Business Development Manager - Engineering Consulting

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious technical sales professional to join a growing engineering consultancy with strong backing from an international engineering group.

Working closely with our engineering teams, you will identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across sectors including nuclear, defence, marine, energy and advanced manufacturing. You will act as the Business Development and voice of PDL Solutions, building long-term relationships with clients and helping organisations access industry-leading engineering expertise.

As a Business Development Manager, some of your main responsibilities will include:

• Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth across PDL's engineering services portfolio.
• Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
• Build strong relationships with engineering team leads, technical authorities, account managers and key stakeholders.
• Promote PDL's capabilities across mechanical design, FEA, CFD, pipe stress analysis and digital engineering.
• Generate and manage a robust sales pipeline through networking, industry events, conferences and direct client engagement.
• Lead discussions, proposal development and bid submissions in collaboration with technical teams.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and pipeline reporting.
• Support the development of strategic partnerships and framework opportunities within target sectors.

We're looking for someone who combines strong business development instincts with an understanding of engineering consultancy services.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• Proven experience in business development, technical sales or account management within an engineering consultancy, engineering services or technical solutions environment.
• Demonstrable success winning engineering projects, consultancy services or specialist technical work packages.
• Understanding of one or more disciplines including mechanical engineering, structural engineering, FEA, CFD, design engineering or digital engineering solutions.
• Existing network within nuclear, defence, marine, energy, process, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Experience developing client relationships from initial engagement through to contract award.
• Strong proposal, bid management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to obtain and maintain UK nuclear and/or defence security clearance where required. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application and be able to satisfy any nationality, residency and background screening requirements associated with security-cleared projects.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK.
